ADOPTION INFO



The adoption fee for one of our loving retired racers is $185.00. Since Lone Star Greyhounds is a non-profit organization, the adoption fee is not refundable.

The adoption fee for a Lone Star Greyhound includes the following:

  • Spay or neuter
  • Dental
  • All vaccinations
  • Heart worm, Lyme, and Ehrlichia testing
  • Deworming
  • General medical check up
  • Grooming, which includes bath, ears and eyes cleaned and toe nails clipped
  • Collar and leash
  • Microchip implant and registration
  • A folder which contains all the Greyhound's medical records since arriving at Lone Star Greyhounds, any information we may have on your new pet prior to your adoption, and our informational handbook
  • Lone Star Greyhound ID tag

The basic requirements to adopt a Greyhound from Lone Star Greyhounds are:

    A very loving environment.

  • An interview conducted by either telephone, e-mail, or in person.
  • A home visit to meet all other family members and pets the prospective adoptive family may have.
  • Adequate fencing to contain a Greyhound when they are exercising or "using the facilities", which is no less than four feet high and constructed of acceptable material.
  • Have a completed adoption application on file.
  • Complete and our release, which is part of the adoption application, which turns the care and responsibility over to the adoptive family at the time of adoption.
